This is the true red hard cap for skills, and I use it constantly for character planning. You can't really see these limits in game until a character hits it and the number turns red, and the information the UI gives you leads you to believe your limits are far lower, making you waste points. This is not entirely true. It's either a bug or the skill description is ambiguous in a way that screws with the player. For regular trading, the price tracking doesn't get saved so that could be an issue. I think the profit value for a stack depends on the price of the most recently purchased item in that stack. #1. Then, perhaps ironically, you learn by doing, both in real life and the game. That is, you increase trade skill by trading. Specifically, by making a profit from trading. The game tells you what needs to be done to raise each skill in the Character screen. The Trade skill is probably one of the easier and faster skills to level. You just need to locate a production center where the prices almost always are cheap. If you go to the Battanian town Seonon, for instance, iron ore and hardwood is often really cheap. .
